Alpo departing ceremony in Oulu // Alpon lähtöjuhla Oulussa

Thousands of city dwellers came to celebrate the departure of Alpo. The number of people showing up impressed us. We were able to serve coffee and apple pie for the first 500. Alpo departed, but as we expected, the ice on the shipping lane of Toppila blocked the passage to the outer sea. Alpo will be able to continue her journey on Monday with the aid of the icebreaker Tuura.

Alpon lähettäjäisiä ja matkaan siunaamista oli viettämässä tuhansia oululaisia. Väen määrä yllätti meidät positiivisesti. Omenapiirakkakahvit riittivät 500:lle ensimmäiselle. Alpo lähti matkaan, mutta matka odotetusti tyssäsi Toppilan väylän puolimetrisiin jäihin.  Alpo pääsee jatkamaan matkaansa maanantaina satamajäänmurtaja Tuuran avustuksella.
